Diy King Size Platform Bed

Building a king-size platform bed is a great way to save money and get exactly the bed you want. Platform beds are also very sturdy and can last for many years. Plus, they're easy to assemble and disassemble, making them a great option for people who move frequently.

To build a king-size platform bed, you will need the following materials:

8 2x4s, 8 feet long
8 2x4s, 6 feet long
1 sheet of 3/4-inch plywood, 4 feet by 8 feet
Wood screws
Wood glue
Sandpaper
Paint or stain (optional)

Once you have gathered your materials, you can begin assembling the bed. First, cut the 2x4s to length. The 8-foot 2x4s will be used for the side rails and the 6-foot 2x4s will be used for the headboard and footboard.

Next, assemble the side rails. Place two of the 8-foot 2x4s parallel to each other, 6 feet apart. Then, attach the remaining two 8-foot 2x4s to the ends of the first two, forming a rectangle. Secure the joints with wood screws and wood glue.

Once the side rails are assembled, attach the headboard and footboard. Place the headboard 2x4s against the inside of the side rails, flush with the top edge. Attach the 2x4s with wood screws and wood glue. Repeat this process with the footboard.

Now, it's time to attach the plywood to the frame. Place the plywood on top of the frame, making sure it is centered. Secure the plywood with wood screws. Be sure to countersink the screws so they are flush with the surface of the plywood.

Once the plywood is attached, you can sand the bed to smooth out any rough edges. You can also paint or stain the bed to match your décor.

Your DIY king-size platform bed is now complete! Enjoy your new bed!

Tips

If you don't have a saw, you can have the lumber cut to length at your local hardware store.
Be sure to use wood screws that are long enough to penetrate both the 2x4s and the plywood.
Countersinking the screws will help to prevent them from protruding from the surface of the plywood.
If you are using paint or stain, be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Allow the paint or stain to dry completely before using the bed.
