King Size Floating Bed Frame Plans
If you're looking for a way to add a touch of luxury and style to your bedroom, a floating bed frame is a great option. Floating bed frames give the illusion that your bed is suspended in mid-air, creating a dramatic and modern look. They're also a great way to save space in a small bedroom.
Building a king size floating bed frame is a relatively easy project that can be completed in a weekend. The following plans will show you how to build a floating bed frame that is both sturdy and stylish.

- 8x 2x6 lumber cut to the following lengths:
- 2 pieces cut to 84 inches long
- 2 pieces cut to 76 inches long
- 4 pieces cut to 38 inches long
- 8x 2x4 lumber cut to the following lengths:
- 2 pieces cut to 84 inches long
- 4 pieces cut to 38 inches long
- 2x piece of plywood cut to 76 inches long and 84 inches wide
- 12x 3-inch wood screws

Instructions
-
Step 1: Assemble the frame.
Start by assembling the frame for the bed. The frame is made up of two long sides and two short sides. To assemble the long sides, attach the two 84-inch 2x6 lumber pieces to the two 84-inch 2x4 lumber pieces using wood screws. Repeat this process to assemble the short sides.
Step 2: Attach the plywood.Once the frame is assembled, attach the plywood to the top of the frame using wood screws. Make sure that the plywood is flush with the edges of the frame.
Step 3: Attach the trim. The trim is what will give the bed its floating appearance. To attach the trim, cut four pieces of 2x4 lumber to 38 inches long. Attach the trim pieces to the inside edges of the frame using wood screws. Make sure that the trim pieces are flush with the top of the frame.
Step 4: Sand and finish.Once the bed is assembled, sand it down to remove any rough edges. You can then paint or stain the bed to match your bedroom décor.
Tips
- If you want to add a headboard to your bed, you can do so by attaching a piece of plywood or MDF to the wall behind the bed. You can then upholster or paint the headboard to match your bed.
- If you want to add drawers to your bed, you can do so by building a set of under-bed drawers. Under-bed drawers are a great way to add extra storage space to your bedroom.
- If you want to add lighting to your bed, you can do so by installing LED strip lights under the trim. LED strip lights will give your bed a modern and stylish look.
